His name is David
On October 30th, I gave birth to an adorable little boy! :) I knew what being a mother was at that very moment! My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 3, JRA when he was 3, and depression at age 3. He was abused (physically) by a babysitter and her family. She put him in the shower and ran cold water on him to "teach him to behave". Her husband would hold him upside down to "teach him a lesson". Her children took a chair leg and hit him repeatedly on his back and legs to "make him listen". After I picked him up from her home, I was getting him ready for a bath and noticed welt marks, human bite marks and the start of bruises on his back, legs and ears. I called my step-mother and she met me at the Emergency Room at Kirby Hospital. I showed the doctor all the marks and bruises. He said "I see no abuse here"! OMGosh!! I could not believe what I was hearing. I left that hospital not able to trust any Kirby doctor again!! People have asked me WHY I didn't call DCFS on her. I felt that if a doctor didn't believe me...why would they. When David was 6 he was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, Sensory Integ., Anxiety, Depression, Post Tramatic Stress Disorder, OCD. Since then, I have done everything in my power to be his voice! To stand up for him. Parents, listen to your children. If they are crying and pleading with you that they do not want to go to a sitter or a caregiver...LISTEN!! Look for the signs.
